Does flattery leave one empty of humbleness ?

Even the Lord has told us to be careful when men praise you. I'm always watchful and careful to take in praise. I've done good things and in a way that I would never think of bringing praise to myself and then someone comes a long and says, "You are such a sweet humble person Amelia. Look at all the good things you do." Oh boy, even though they are sincere and well meaning I have to watch myself that I don't get puffed up. It isn't an easy thing to get out of once you've been caught.
